Biography
My practice philosophy has always been about relationships first. I want my patients to feel comfortable, so my communication style is friendly and approachable. As a woman and mother, I can relate to so much of what my patients are experiencing. As a long-term community resident, I also treat patients who are classmates, neighbors, and friends. I believe in being direct but compassionate with my patients.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to medicine, and I’m committed to making sure that patients are treated as individuals and that my care takes into consideration their desires and priorities.
What makes Colorado home to you?
Whether skiing, hiking, biking, or running, she takes advantage of the beautiful landscape and scenery that Colorado offers.
What are your passions outside of work?
In my free time, I enjoy international travel, cooking, reading, and spending time with my married daughters.
Why did you become an OB/GYN?
For as long as I can remember, I knew I wanted to be a doctor. When I was in elementary school, a classmate’s mother came and spoke to us. She was one of the first female OB-GYNs in Denver. I decided then that I wanted to be a doctor and maybe an OB-GYN.
What in your career are you most proud?
I am most proud of having longstanding patients, some for 30 years, and now seeing their daughters as patients. Also, I am very proud that I received the Rose Hospital Faculty Teaching Award in 2013 acknowledging my surgical skill and teaching of surgical residents.
What is the most important part of your job?
I enjoy covering the continuum of women’s health, from adolescence through childbearing years and into maturity. I firmly believe that my relationship with patients is based on education and empowerment. I’m here to help them understand their health. And when decisions need to be made, I can provide accurate and objective information so that, together, my patients and I can decide the best plan of care or course of treatment.
