About Courtney Perez
Courtney Perez graduated from Vanderbilt University with a master’s degree in nurse-midwifery in 1999. Over the years she has had the opportunity to care for thousands of women and families. She has provided care to people from all walks of life, from many different cultural backgrounds and from puberty, to childbearing, to menopause. Her philosophy is to tailor each woman’s care to her specific needs and desires, like pregnancy, birth, and the care of one’s health are unique and special to each woman. What makes Colorado home to you? I love camping and rafting in the summer and skiing in the winter. Live music at Red Rocks is a highlight of Colorado life for me. What are your passions outside of work? Courtney lives in Denver with her husband and daughter. She enjoys cooking, traveling, music and living in Colorado. Why did you become a Certified Nurse Midwife? I was drawn to a career as a midwife because I wanted to care for women and families and, of course, to deliver babies. Like many midwives, it was my calling to be with women. I have been in practice since 2000, and there is nothing I would rather do! What in your career are you most proud? I am proud of the relationships I form with women and their families. It’s such a joy to attend births and be a part of the most precious times. I also take pride in guiding and supporting women through the times that are more difficult, offering information and a shoulder to lean on. What is the most important part of your job? The most important part of my job is providing safe, evidence-based care in a way that makes women feel supported and empowered.
