Midwifery in Denver

What are midwives?

Midwives are healthcare professionals that specialize in pregnancy, delivery, postpartum care, and general gynecological care. Usually, they take a natural approach to the birth process – focusing on how to holistically provide care for expectant and new mothers.

At The Women's Health Group, our midwives work together with the OB/GYNs to create a well-rounded care experience. Guided by core values of compassion, collaboration, and superior customer service, our certified nurse midwives focus on support and education while providing expert midwifery care.

Midwife Services

Midwives can perform a number of services that pertain to women's health outside of the pregnancy process, including:
Screening for STIs
Ultrasounds
Bloodwork
Family planning
Natural Childbirth
C-Section

Midwifery Care For High and Low Risk Pregnancies

We provide a full spectrum of choices to both low and high-risk pregnancies, ranging from natural childbirth to midwife-assisted C-sections. Our collaborative care methods allow us to care for all women.

Midwifes are trained to work with an OB/GYN to handle a number of  complications, including:

  • History of preterm delivery
  • History of stillbirth or placenta previa
  • History of labor complications
  • Breech babies
  • Reproductive health conditions

How is a midwife different from an OB/GYN?
Both professions work with women during their pregnancy, but have different educational
backgrounds. Midwives attend specialized training in women's health and get certified to
practice, while OB/GYNs attend medical school and complete a residency. Each have their own set of
specialties and skills that are useful during a pregnancy.
Can I have a midwife and an OB/GYN?
Yes. At The Women's Health Group, all our practitioners work together to create the best pregnancy
care plan for you.
